Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I become a volunteer?

As well as gaining externally recognised skills and having a brilliant time, Scouting also offers the chance to build on personal skills, like teamwork, confidence and leadership. A study found that over 90% of our volunteers believe that the skills and experiences they have gained through Scouting have been of relevance to their working or personal lives.

Do I have to be a leader?

There are loads of different types of volunteer roles available in scouts besides being a leader. We always need volunteer support to help with administration, finance, management and events.

Is there an age restriction?

As long as you're over 18, you can become an adult volunteer. If you're younger, you can take part in the young leader programme or volunteer with us as part of your D of E awards.
