St George’s Day celebrated in Godalming District

Members of scouting from across Godalming gathered together in the town centre to celebrate St George's Day. The event included loads of activities, as well as one of the loudest parade's Godalming has ever seen!

St George’s Day is an important event for scouts, as Baden-Powell chose Saint George to be the patron saint of scouting. Nowadays, the day is marked by the tradition of the renewal of promises as well as other activities and traditions.

Although the event has previously been a parade or faith based service, in recent years our district team have worked hard to ensure the day is engaging and relevant. This year, this included all sorts of games and activities for everyone to take part in.

Thanks to everyone who joined the fun, and to all the adult volunteers who worked hard to make the day a success.
