St George’s Day Celebrated in Godalming

Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders from across Godalming joined together on Sunday to celebrate St George’s Day. The occasion was marked with an activity day, renewal of promises and parade in the town centre.

Young people from groups in the Godalming area took part in a day of activities themed around the different elements of the ‘My World’ badge, which involved learning about different cultures and traditions.

We were extremely lucky to have our local policing team join us for the day too!

It wouldn’t be St George’s Day without a noisy parade, which included walking through the town centre along the High Street.

Many people also received special awards, including these beavers from 1st Witley who gained their Chief Scout Bronze award!

Several leaders and adult volunteers received awards for good service, meritorious conduct or for completing their training (known as a wood badge). Read more about the volunteers from Godalming who received St George's Day awards.

The scout shop was also open for the day selling loads of scouting supplies.

The event was organised by Jillie (ADC activities) and the fantastic district team, and was supported by our local active support unit. Thanks to everyone involved for all their hard work in making St George’s Day happen!
