Can young people with additional needs join scouts?

Scouting is designed to be flexible, and to support all young people to take part and reach their full potential.

We welcome young people with a range of additional needs, and work hard to support them to take part in activities at Scouts.

‍The Equal Opportunities Policy outlines what we do to ensure the movement is open and accessible; and that people are treated equally and with respect.

Our volunteers follow guidance and receive training to support young people with additional needs. Discover more about how we support young people in Scouts with additional needs in the following areas:

• Cognition and learning

Volunteers work in partnership with the parents or carers of young people to make adjustments and provide the right support.
