“At explorers you get to hang out with other people you probably wouldn’t otherwise meet. I ended up making loads of new friends with people who went to different schools or who were in different year groups. Even now we’re too old to go to Explorers, we’re all still good friends outside of scouts.”
“I tried caving, climbing, kayaking, mountain biking and loads more - all for the first time at Explorers. It was great to have opportunities to try all these new things and push myself to do things that were out of my comfort zone.”
“Some of my best memories were made at Explorers. Whether we were hiking up a mountain or sitting around the campfire, it was always a load of fun. I looked forward to every week!”
“I’d always wanted to do my D of E, and being involved in scouts unlocked some great opportunities for my award. I was also able to volunteer with another group of cubs as a young leader which was a great experience.”
“Looking back at my time in Explorers, I’ve now realised how many skills I was learning while I was there. I learned practical skills for things like camping, but I also learned other stuff too. I learned to be more confident, how to work with a team and how to take the lead. Because we got to plan and even lead so many of our own activities, we were learning so much as we went along.”
