The Godalming District Scout Canoe Club is run by Graham Hodgson who is Chairman and also a qualified BCU Coach. His wife Lynn is the Secretary, and John Stevens is Treasurer. The committee is made up of various scouters and guiders, all of whom enjoy canoeing and are also qualified to various BCU standards. The club is an asset of the Godalming District Scout Executive.

The club meets at Godalming Wharf (behind Homebase Store) on Tuesday evenings. The Paddlepower Passport (beginers) courses commence on 20th April, 25th May and 29th June, and last 5 weeks. The Paddlepower Discover/2* (intermediate level) starts on 20th April, and also the BCU 3* course starts on 20th April. Both these courses last through (and possibly beyond) September. All courses commence at 6.30pm. Application forms are available through your Group Leader, by direct e-mail to previous course attendees, or can be requested from the GDSCC Secretary.

During the winter, interested canoeists meet Sunday mornings every second and last Sunday of the month at 10.00am at the club premises.

Other groups outside the Godalming district area are also encouraged to request taster sessions, or as individuals, to bid for a place on an appropriate course. Lat year saw a huge range of bids from inside and outside the District, and we had to commit to almost a continuous run of evening sessions from May through to mid-July. This above the Tuesday club night and occasional forays to the Guildford Lido on Monday evenings for paddling sessions.

We have been able to extend our equipment storage facilities by the recent addition of a timber "lean to" building to our existing hut. This allows extra and different boats to be stored to enable us to offer a wider range of boat types within the courses

No subscriptions are payable, although the courses themselves do carry a charge to cover the cost of the equipment provided, licences for the canoes/kayaks, insurance and other ongoing costs. If it is necessary or to add wider interest, when other waterways are visited, there may be some extra costs involved.

We offer fun, a risk sport (adrenalin not provided), quality kit, a high standard of tuition (coaching), personal development and achievable qualifications.
